Microsoft Windows 11

I have a 6 mo old HP Spector. It turned off when plugged in today while using it. It won’t restart. The power adapter does not light up the computer even though it charges other devices fine. I can’t get the laptop to power up. I’m traveling for work and need to get it on. How can I get this fixed ASAP?

Hi @Laura937,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about your HP Specter not powering up. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get it working.

Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
  • Release the power button and reconnect the power adapter.
  • Try turning on the laptop again.

Check Power Adapter and Connection:

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into the laptop and the wall outlet.
  • Try using a different power outlet.
  • If possible, try using a different compatible power adapter.

Remove External Devices:

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.) from the laptop.
  • Try powering on the laptop again.

Battery Reset:

  • If your model has a removable battery, remove it and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery and try powering on the laptop.

Inspect for Damage:

  • Check for any visible damage to the power adapter or the laptop’s charging port.
  • Look for any debris or dust in the charging port that might be blocking the connection.

Use a Known Working Power Adapter:

  • If you have access to another HP Specter power adapter, try using it to see if the issue is with the adapter or the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
