The last few times I booted my Spectre x360, it took a solid 5 minutes to start up (much longer than usual) and then displayed the startup menu shown in the attached pic.

I am not a techy and have no idea what to do. Should I click Enter to continue startup, or should I look at one or more of the other options,Spectre x360 startup menuSpectre x360 startup menu and if so, which?

Please help as I am not a techy. Thanks 🙂

1. The delay started happening recently.

2. I followed all recommendations. I updated the BIOS, and it appears to have resolved the issue. Should the issue recur, I will update the post.

Thank you for all that you do to help non-geeks like me!

Cheers

Hi @sekz,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Did this delay start happening recently, or has it been building up over time?

A few initial troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Basic restart – If the menu gives you the option to press Enter to continue startup, go ahead and try that first.
  2. Check BIOS/UEFI settings – If the menu mentions BIOS setup or system diagnostics, you can select System Diagnostics to run a quick hardware check. This will confirm if there’s an issue with memory or the hard drive.
  3. Fast Startup – Boot into Windows, then go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do. Make sure Fast Startup is enabled it can help reduce boot times.
  4. Update drivers and BIOS – Visit HP Support Assistant (pre-installed on your Spectre x360) and check for updates. Outdated firmware or drivers can cause slow boot issues.

I hope this helps.
