My laptop does not turn on.  When plugged in, I can charge other items using the USB port, so I know it's not an issue with the power adapter.  (I have also borrowed other adapters that work with similar laptops, and the result is the same.) The battery is obviously not charging but I would expect to be able to use it while plugged into the AC adapter.

Appreciate you trying the steps and isolating the issue. As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.
