I was prompted to restart my Spectre x360 in order for it to update. Once I did that it remained on the hp booting screen for an hour. Did a hard reset multiple times, was stuck on the auto repairing screen multiple times. One time I was prompted with a black screen stating an error was found after the repair was finished. I’ve used f10 to run a simple test, test the booting system, and just finished an extensive test. All have passed. Currently running another extensive test on loop until error. Please help!

Hi @crypticey,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Spectre x360 is encountering an issue where it's stuck in a boot loop following an update attempt, despite passing all hardware diagnostics tests. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

Access Safe Mode: If possible, try to boot your laptop into Safe Mode. To do this, restart your device and repeatedly press the F8 key before Windows starts. If you can get into Safe Mode, you might be able to roll back a recent update or driver that’s causing the issue.

System Restore: If you can access the Advanced Boot Options, try to perform a System Restore to revert your laptop to a previous state before the update was attempted. This option may be available under "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "System Restore".

Startup Repair: Run the Startup Repair from the Advanced Recovery Menu. Press and hold the power button to turn off your laptop completely. Turn it back on and immediately start tapping the F11 key to enter the recovery environment. Choose "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Repair".

Uninstall Updates: In the Advanced Options, try uninstalling the latest updates if the problem started after a recent update. This might help if a Windows update is causing the issue. Go to "Advanced options" > "Uninstall Updates".

Repair the Boot Configuration: Sometimes, boot issues can be related to the boot sector or master boot record (MBR). You may need to use a Windows installation media to access the command prompt and run a series of commands to fix the boot configuration. However, this is a more advanced step and may require a professional if you are not comfortable with command-line instructions.

These steps should help you diagnose and possibly fix the boot loop problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
