HP Pavilion 15-bc002ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everybody! Already few days I'm trying to solve a strange problem: when my HP Pavilion 15-bc002ur run in Windows 10, I can't press any symbol keys (digits/letters/backspace/tab/space) and arrows. I did an absolutely fresh Windows 1909 install and problem is still exist. I can use only touchpad or external USB keyboard.

But what the strange thing - each time I run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows (version 1.6.0.0) (just opening this utility) - my keyboard starts to work perfectly until I shut down Windows.

When I run BIOS - I noticed that Esc and F1-F10 keys are working, but arrows are not working, so I can't switch between BIOS screens, or select between options rows.

I upgraded BIOS for latest F.52 Rev.A (May 2019) but nothing is changed.

Any ideas or advices? Thank you in advance!

UPDATE - I also notice that keyboard start fine working after I run Regedit (just open it and close). Looks like something  UNLOCK my keyboard after Windows start. Note: I have absolute clean Windows 1909 install, without any additional software.

But what LOCK my keyboard? Any ideas?

@alexjob2000,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the keyboard is not working after turning on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

When was the last time the keyboard was working fine?

Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Ease of Access. Click on the Make the keyboard easier to use link. Scroll down to the Make it easier to type section. Clear the turn on Filter keys checkbox.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Cheers!

It was working at early December 2019. I used original Windows version updated to current with every available Microsoft update.

No, just possibly Windows Update for current Windows 10 did auto updates.

I would like to add - later I tried to reinstall Windows 10 as new, and noticed that keyboard starts not working just before setup stage "Enter your Name", so I have to use external keyboard to complete install.

Also - VERY STRANGE - after EACH Windows load, I can press any ONE key and after this no key is working, UNTILL I run Regedit (just run and close), after it keyboard works perfectly till I do new Windows shut or reload. Absolutely STRANGE for me.

What you can say on this case???
