Every time I try to factory reset my laptop it comes up with a message saying that there was an error while resetting the laptop. Also when I try to boot into windows 10 the hp logo comes up, then there is a blank screen, and then the logo comes up again. When I turn on the laptop to boot into windows 10, the logo shows but there is a message under it saying automatic repair, then a screen shows up to either reset the laptop again or to go into advanced settings. I tried a lot of things to solve the problem, from doing system checks to resetting and installing a new BIOS version. Maybe the problem is caused from the laptop not being updated since 2017-2018. Hopefully there is a way of fixing this issue without buying a new copy of windows or a new SSD.

Hi:
See if this works...
Try clean installing W10 as follows...
During the installation process, delete all of the partitions, so you just have the one partition set to the maximum size.
You can do that step at the 'where do you want to install windows' screen.
That will give you more room for future updates.
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
Select Download tool now, and select Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
Select which media you want to use:
USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

What if I don’t have a 8gb or more flash drive. Also how do I delete the partitions?

You are going to have to get an 8 GB or larger flash drive...buy or borrow.
Watch the video for how to delete the partitions.

Is it possible to use a hard drive with a usb adapter or is the usb flash drive the only option?

I'm not sure.
You might be able to, but two things have to happen...
1. The PC recognizes the portable hard drive as a bootable device.
2. The media creation tool will work on such a large device.
Note that this W10 USB creation tool will format the portable hard drive, so anything on it will be erased.
That's what it does to a USB flash drive.

I have the partition screen on the laptop right now as you see on the photo. (Sorry for the laptop being dirty and the photo having these weird lines, the laptop will be cleaned soon) In the video the guy had only 2 partitions and he deleted both of them, while I have 4 partitions here. He said to not delete the one’s that you need but I’m not sure which one to delete. Can someone tell me which one to delete?

Hi:
Delete all of them starting from the bottom of your screen shot to the top.
Then there will be one partition left of unallocated space.
It should look like this and then just make sure it is set to the maximum size.
Then click on Next and W10 should set up the drive the way it needs to, and install.
