Hi @796400,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I'll be glad to help you.

I understand that your PC is stuck on the lock screen and is not allowing you to enter your PIN. This can happen due to a temporary Windows sign-in issue, a problem with Windows Hello, or a keyboard/input malfunction.

Please try the following steps:

1. Use an Alternative Sign-in Method:

  • On the lock screen, select Sign-in options.

  • Click the Password icon (key symbol) and sign in using your Microsoft account password or local account password instead of the PIN.

2. Use the On-Screen Keyboard:

  • Click the Accessibility/Ease of Access icon in the lower-right corner of the lock screen.

  • Select On-Screen Keyboard.

  • Use your mouse or touchpad to enter the PIN.

3. Restart the Windows Sign-in Screen:

  • Press and hold the Power button for 10–15 seconds until the PC turns off.

  • Wait about 30 seconds.

  • Turn the PC back on and check whether the PIN field appears normally.

4. Boot into Safe Mode (If the Issue Persists):

If you still cannot access the sign-in screen:

  • From the lock screen, click the Power icon.

  • Hold the Shift key and select Restart.

  • Navigate to Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Restart.

  • After the restart, press 4 to start Safe Mode.

Please let us know:

  • The exact HP model number.

Here is the link to find the product serial number: Click here.

  • Whether the PIN box is missing completely or visible but not accepting input.

  • Whether an external keyboard behaves the same way.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
