Windows Update automatically updated my BIOS. Then, I went to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers , found my model, and updated all the drivers, including the BIOS. After doing this update, my computer no longer enters the BIOS screen. In the lower-left corner, it just shows the text “BIOS Setup Options”, and the screen freezes with the Victus logo. When I power off the computer using the power button, it only stays stuck on the Victus logo. The only way I can start it is by holding Win + B and the power button. With that method, the computer boots normally, and Windows works fine. I can also shut it down normally. But still, I cannot enter the BIOS — it freezes every time. I would like to be able to enter the BIOS screen normally again. How can I fix this? NOTE: On the HP website, when I enter my product’s serial number, it shows HP Victus 16, 16-s0000 (76T52AV). But in the HP Support Assistant app, it shows my Product Number as 7Z5Z2EA#AB8. I updated all the drivers (including BIOS) according to 7Z5Z2EA, but should I have done it according to 76T52AV instead?

Hi there @canzade, and welcome to HP Support Community!
Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.
Based on your description and the image you shared, your HP Victus 16-s0000 (76T52AV) laptop is freezing at the BIOS Setup Options screen after a BIOS update. You can boot into Windows using the Win + B recovery method, but normal BIOS access is broken. Let's walk through the steps to resolve this:
Confirm Correct BIOS Version
You mentioned updating BIOS based on Product Number: 7Z5Z2EA#AB8, but HP's support site identifies your system as 76T52AV. These are both valid identifiers:
- 7Z5Z2EA#AB8 is your Sales SKU.
- 76T52AV is the Base Model ID used for BIOS and firmware.
Always use 76T52AV when downloading BIOS updates from HP Drivers & Software.
Perform BIOS Recovery (Clean Reflash)
Since Win + B works, you can use it to reflash the BIOS cleanly:
Steps:
- Go to HP BIOS Recovery Tool.
- Download the latest BIOS for 76T52AV from HP Drivers Page.
- Use the HP BIOS Update utility to create a recovery USB stick.
- Insert the USB stick into your laptop.
- Hold Win + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding Win + B until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
- Let the recovery complete and reboot.
Reset BIOS Settings
If recovery works but BIOS still freezes:
- Try a CMOS reset:
- Power off the laptop.
- Hold Windows + V and press the Power button for 5 seconds.
- Release all keys. If successful, you’ll hear beeps and the system will reset BIOS settings.
Update EC Firmware (if available)
Sometimes BIOS updates require a matching Embedded Controller (EC) firmware update. Check the HP Drivers Page for any EC or firmware utilities and install them via Windows.
Check HP Support Assistant Conflicts
HP Support Assistant may misidentify your product and suggest incorrect updates. To avoid this:
- Uninstall HP Support Assistant.
- Use HP Image Assistant instead, it’s more accurate for driver matching.

A quick “Yes” also goes a long way in showing appreciation!
Take care and happy computing!
