Hi. I'm locked out of my computer via bios and I don't know the password. When I try to enter a password 3 times I get a message

System Disabled
A [4D136684]

The bracketed number is different each time. How can I get into the bios to fix this problem?

Hi,

Your notebook is producing a hexadecimal halt code which is stored in ram as a 'one off' and will be re-calculated after a reboot.  This indicates you have one of the later AMI bios's and unfortunately none of the current code generators will work for this - there are a couple of options.

1.  Contact HP Support starting on the link below.

2.  Alternatively, you may still be able to remove a power on password from the machine ( although this will depend on the bios version currently running ) by removing the rtc cell ( leave the power board connected ) then hold down the power button for 60 seconds.  Leave the machine like this for a couple of hours before re-inserting the rtc and re-assembling.

The procedure for removing the rtc is detailed starting on Page 40 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

Sorry. I made a mistake on the bios lockout code. It reads

System Disabled
A [4D1366B4]

Thank you in advance for whatever help you provide.
