HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This morning, I started up my laptop (HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0013dx) and received an HP BIOS update - which I was unaware was going to happen. After updating, my system booted, but everything - Windows Media Player, Firefox, McAfee AV, and a few games I've had for several months - was very slow. If I tried to have two things open at the same time, I could forget about it.

I ran virus and malware scans and found nothing. I went ahead and did a system optimization, as well. No effect from anything. Finally, I went into the BIOS to load the setup defaults - which I had found on the community board from a fairly similar problem last year - to no effect.

Is there any way to roll back my BIOS to a few days ago, when everything was working fine? And how can I make my system not automatically update the BIOS without my permission/knowledge?

Thanks.

@TARRat72, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Let us try to recover the BIOS

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.

  2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the Power button for 2 to 3 seconds.

  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
