Hi @blues_me_tender,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The error you're encountering when trying to recover the BIOS indicates that the necessary BIOS recovery files are either missing or corrupted on your HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000. Here’s how you can resolve this issue and reset your password:

Step 1: Prepare a BIOS Recovery USB Drive

Download the Latest BIOS:

  • From another computer, go to the HP Software & Drivers page and search for your laptop model (HP Pavilion 15-ec2000).
  • Download the latest BIOS update available for your specific model.

Create a BIOS Recovery USB Drive:

  • Insert a USB flash drive into the computer (at least 8 GB in size, and preferably empty as this process will erase the data).
  • Run the downloaded BIOS update file. It will give you an option to create a BIOS recovery USB drive.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to create the recovery drive.

Step 2: Recover the BIOS

Insert the USB Drive into Your Laptop:

  • Connect the BIOS recovery USB drive you just created to your HP Pavilion laptop.

Power On the Laptop and Start BIOS Recovery:

  • Turn off the laptop if it’s on.
  • Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press the power button and hold it for 2-3 seconds.
  • Release the power button while continuing to hold the Windows + B keys. The laptop should start in BIOS recovery mode.
  • If the recovery process starts, you’ll see an HP BIOS Update screen. Follow the prompts to recover the BIOS.

Step 3: Reset the Password

Once the BIOS recovery is complete, you can proceed to reset your password. Here’s how:

Use Password Reset Disk (if available):

  • If you have created a password reset disk before, you can use it to reset your password.

Use an Online Account Recovery:

  • If you’re using a Microsoft account to log in, you can reset your password online by visiting the Microsoft Password Reset page.

Perform a System Reset:

  • If you don’t have a password reset disk and can’t recover the BIOS, you may need to perform a system reset, which will reset the laptop to its factory settings. Be aware that this will erase all data on the laptop.
  • To perform a system reset:
    • Turn off the laptop.
    • Turn it on and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly to enter the recovery environment.
    • Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything.

If the BIOS recovery fails again or you encounter other issues, consider contacting HP phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
