HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (9R7K7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

During a Zoom call sometimes the screen goes blank. The other people on the Zoom call can see me and they can hear me but I can't see them.

2nd issue: Sometimes, the laptop takes a while to boot up. Normally, once I press Power the light on the power button comes on right away, and the laptop screen comes on in a few seconds. Other times, when I press Power, the light does not come on for up to a minute. Then, the laptop takes a few minutes to fully boot up as much as 10 minutes.

I ran the diagnostics that are available from F2 during the boot up.

No issues were found, but I ran the Quick version of the tests. I can do it again running the full /Long version of the tests.

Screen Goes Blank During Zoom Call

It appears that the screen randomly turns off during a Zoom call, but the microphone and camera continue to function normally. To troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Check System Settings: Make sure that Windows 11 is up-to-date. Sometimes system updates include fixes for display issues.
  2. Zoom Application Settings:
    • Ensure the Zoom application is up-to-date. Zoom regularly updates its application, which can include bug fixes for issues like screen blanking.
    • Verify the settings within Zoom to ensure no power-saving features are interfering with Zoom calls.
  3. Graphics Driver:
    • Update or reinstall the graphics driver. This can often resolve display-related issues.
    • You can check HP support or the manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers.
  4. Display Settings:
    • Check the power settings and screensaver settings on Windows to ensure no settings might cause the screen to turn off during inactivity.
  5. Hardware Check: Run a hardware diagnostic to check if there is any issue with the laptop's display hardware.

Laptop Delays in Booting Up

The intermittent delay in the laptop booting up can be related to hardware and software issues.

  1. Check for Updates: Ensure the laptop has all the latest updates for Windows 11 and HP's firmware.
  2. Startup Programs:
    • Review startup applications and disable any unnecessary programs that might be delaying the boot process.
  3. Battery and Power Supply:
    • Check the battery and power supply. Ensure the power adapter is functioning correctly and the battery is properly seated.
  4. BIOS Update: Sometimes updating the BIOS can resolve boot delays.
    • Check HP support for the latest BIOS version for your laptop model.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
