HP Pavilion Plus 14 inch Laptop PC 14-ew0000 (7X844AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The machine does not stay switched on with the charger, and when charging, it shuts down immediately. Therefore, it cannot be used with the charger; it has to be used with the battery until the charge lasts.

Hi @Alcorun,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with either the charger or the laptop's power management. Here are a few steps you can try:

Check the Charger: Ensure that the charger is properly connected and functioning. If possible, test it with another compatible laptop to see if it charges.

Inspect the Charging Port: Look for any debris or damage in the charging port that might be preventing a good connection.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and charger, then try to turn it on.

Check Battery Health:

  • If you can get the laptop to boot while on battery, check the battery health in Windows. Go to Settings > System > About and look for battery information.

Update Drivers and BIOS: If you can boot into Windows, check for any updates for your BIOS and power management drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
