I believe my laptop might've died while I was updating it and now when I try to boot it up, I see the message "The selected boot device failed. Press <Enter> to Continue." I performed a startup check and the results I got back from a fast system test and from a symptom test both passed/came back normal. Whenever I try to press f11 to do a system recovery, my laptop only beeps and flashes the "The selected boot device failed. Press <Enter> to Continue" message. I have had this laptop for almost three years.

Hi:
If the drive passed the tests, I recommend you use the HP cloud recovery tool with another PC running W7 64 bit or newer to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.
