Hello HP Support team,
My HP notebook has 16 GB RAM and 1 TB HDD with Intel Corei7 Quad Core Processor. Even though the specification is pretty good, the system is too slow to boot up. And also take some extra time to start my activities. Do you have any recommendation for performance improvement without any hardware upgrade?
Thanks in Advance,
Tinoy Jameson

Hello @Tinoy,
Apologizes for the late response.
I do suggest disabling any services that provide automatic updates such as the Java Update Scheduler and the Logitech Download Assistant considering that they may be very intrusive.
To be honest, the only services that are not nuisances are:
- HP Message Service
- Realtek Audio Device Manager
- HP Orbit
- Microsoft OneDrive
- Skype for Business
- Windows Defender Notification
- Speech Recognition
The rest, I would personally disable unless you have a specific need for them.
Best regards,
Eddy

Hello @Tinoy,
This is simply because the laptop is using a conventional hard disk drive as opposed to a much more sophisticated and efficient solid state drive.
I would first ensure that all updates have been made. You can check in Settings > Update and Security > Windows Updates. Also make sure that drivers are updates through HP Support Assistant. In case you don't already have it, here is the download page for HP Support Assistant.
I also recommend disabling some startup applications which may be the biggest factor in a slow startup. You can check by opening Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), and then navigating to the Startup tab. You can take a screenshot through Snipping Tool and upload it here if you are not sure on what to disable.
Lastly, you should also check if your hard drive may need optimization/defragmentation. Check this by searching on Windows Search Defragment and Optimize Drives. Then select your disk drive and select Optimize.
Hopefully, this is helpful to some degree. Nonetheless, replacing the HDD with an SSD is always a superb upgrade.
All the best,
Eddy
