Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

The cursor works, but the touchpad does not allow me to highlight anything to be able to copy and paste it.  Often times I cannot even click on anything to get the screen to respond.  My only option is to force tthe laptop to shut down and then I can use the computer until the touchpad again becomes unresponsive.  Happens several times a day for the last 2 weeks.  When I click on check for driver updates for my mousepad, it says I have the current one and it is working.  

Any ideas on how to get a new driver to correct the problem?
