Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'm trying to create a USB Bios update installer, however when running the install shield/wizard, after selecting the USB drive to install the files into, the wizard just exits and doesn't pop up with the option to "copy the BIOS image to use it on other devices" so i can create a Recovery USB flash drive.

Hi

Any particular BIOS?

Any particular Make or Model (Dell or HP)?

Yep, HP EliteBook 8570p, and have tried downloads sp77818 and sp96091. I was successful with sp85528 on my spare laptop, but not the other 2 downloads for the 8570p.

Hi

Hmmmm

Using 7zip I can see some stuff.

[SYSTEM_ID]

179B=hpqflash.exe -s -f68ICF.CAB
17A7=hpqflash.exe -s -f68ICF.CAB
179C=hpqflash.exe -s -f68ICE.CAB
17AB=hpqflash.exe -s -f68ICE.CAB

So it seems to cover more than 1 Main-Board.

The only thing I got was a message about a corrupt CAB file.

Obviously I cannot run the flash thing to corrupt my own system.

So I accept you have a problem, at some stage with the download.

Thanks for your efforts...much appreciated.

I downloaded SP96091 3 times or more with the same results.

My board is the 17A7 one....what would you recommend i do here to be able to update my BIOS via a USB?

HP Recommended

17A7=hpqflash.exe -s -f68ICF.CAB

So run the exe file

hpqflash.exe -s -f68ICF.CAB

I've had to take my laptop in for a hard dive replacement and other repairs, so have been unable to try your solution. I should get it back tomorrow, and i'll update the status of this post....thanks again for your efforts
