Computer will not boot after changing the BIOS to UEFI with a message that there is no OS on the hard drive. THe boot orber does not include computer hard drive as a choice like the legacy. zI think the problem is that the disk is formatted as MBR. I tried to use the tool to reformat to the UEFI format but the operation fails. Is there anyway to fix this so I can load W11 on a perfectly good laptop?

You are right that your Windows currently is installed on the MBR-based drive.
Windows installed in the UEFI boot mode has to be on the GPT-partitioned drive.
If you want Windows to be installed in the UEFI mode, you need to reinstall Windows in the UEFI boot mode (legacy support off in the BIOS), or you need to convert the disk partition scheme to GPT from MBR with the mbr2gpt command. You can do this conversion without data loss in a relatively easy manner.
See this thread for how to convert to GPT in command prompt.
Whichever way you choose to install Windows in the UEFI mode, let us know if you have any questions.
