Recently I removed my optical drive and installed another HDD using caddy. There was no problem. Recently I have changed my BIOS mode Legacy to UEFI. After changing BIOS mode my second HDD not showing up in windows 10 after each boot. I have to restart my laptop again to get the second HDD. All the HDDs are in GPT. All the drivers are updated. I am pretty sure changing BIOS mode to legacy will solve the problem. But I want to keep UEFI BIOS mode. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Microsoft team could not able to resolve after several attempts.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
- Have you made any hardware/software changes?
- Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
While you respond to that, let's try these steps:
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open the HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

@Echo_Lake
Thanks for your response
The problem starts from when I have removed optical drive and replace it with caddy with original HDD. This HDD is currently being used as data storage. The new SSD I bought is connected to the main SATA (to get max speed) and OS boots from it. I have tried everything whatever you suggested. Here is a list in chronological order of the same:
1. Checked both the SSD and HDD are in GPT format->Yes, both are in GPT.
2. Checked Windows 10 updates->No new updates available.
3. Checked updates using HP support assistance->No new updates available.
4. Checked BIOS version->Already in latest version (F.30).
5. Checked with other HDD in caddy->Problem persists hence my HDD was fine.
6. Contacted Microsoft team->They could not trace out the problem.
7. Search over internet and found this is a very common unresolved issue. Got some clue on powering up of the HDD and hence disable the HDD power off on sleep from the power saving option-> No luck.
I feel the problem is not related to the hardware because the HDD fails to load only 1 out of 3-4 times. If not loaded I have to simply restart to get back the HDD. It would be great if I can get some permanent solution.

Thank you for posting back.
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.
The last thing I can suggest trying to restore the computer back to the factory settings. Performing an HP system recovery (Windows ) While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.
Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
