HP ProBook 440 14 inch G11 Notebook PC (8Z4N0AV)

My new HP laptop crashes 5+ times daily - Intel Platform License Manager issue. 😭

==============================================================================

UPDATE: This is getting worse, and I'm losing my mind! Anyone else?

Quick background:

Bought a brand new HP ProBook 440 G11 with the fancy Intel Ultra 7 155U processor about a month ago. Started having random crashes in September, and now it's crashing 3-5 times DAILY.

What's happening:

- Computer just randomly shuts down without warning

- No blue screen, just *click* and it's off

- Happens during normal use (web browsing, documents, even just idle)

- Getting progressively worse - used to be once every few days, now multiple times daily

- Losing work constantly 😤

What I've found (went full detective mode):

After digging through Windows logs, I found that EVERY SINGLE CRASH is preceded by something called "Intel Platform License Manager Service" timing out. Like clockwork - this service fails, then 30 seconds later the computer dies.

What I've tried:

- Memory test - passed

- Updated all drivers

- Scanned for malware - clean

- System file check

- Different power settings

- Disabled WiFi (someone suggested network issues)

- Nothing works!

System specs:

- HP ProBook 440 G11

- Intel Core Ultra 7 155U (brand new processor)

- 16GB RAM

- Windows 11 Pro

- About 1 month old

Theory:

This seems like a hardware/firmware problem with the Intel Ultra 7 processor or motherboard. The "Platform License Manager" handles CPU security stuff, and if it keeps failing, that suggests the CPU or motherboard has issues.

Questions:

  1. Anyone else with this laptop having crashes?
  2. Is the Intel Ultra 7 155U known to be buggy?
  3. Should I return it or try warranty repair?
  4. Any HP people here who can help?

The frustrating part:

This is supposed to be a premium business laptop! I bought it specifically for reliability and it's the most unstable computer I've ever owned. I'm losing work daily and it's affecting my productivity.

What's next:

Planning to contact HP warranty support, but wanted to check if this is a widespread issue first. If multiple people have this problem, it might be faster to just return/exchange rather than wait for a firmware fix.

Please help!

Has anyone seen this "Intel Platform License Manager" error before? Or having similar crashes with HP ProBook G11 models?

Check to see if there is a hardware problem: Watch this video.

Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.

If a component fails during the UEFI test then Click here to check warranty

If the component is not tested then possibly it is in the updated version of UEFI diagnostics.

HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically.
When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics.
There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here
Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS',
Expand the '+' symbol and click the DOWNLOAD button.
The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button.
When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one.

This can be installed from a USB flash drive if necessary.

If no failure then windows drivers or file corruption could be the problem.

Intel also has a support assistant for drivers

If the system fails during UEFI (f2) diagnostics

Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary.

You probably should register with HP's CarePack to obtain email and phone number support
