Hello, I want to install Windows from Pendrive. I've enabled USB Boot. But when I select USB Flash Drive/USB Hard Disk from UEFI Boot Order, it's not selecting. It sounds like a beep when selecting it and pressing the Enter key. Also, you can see in the attached image, that the arrow key isn't moving.
My device is an HP 15-s-du3527TU and uses Windows 11. How can I solve the issue?
Regards,
Mofi

USB Device Preparation:
Create Bootable USB Drive:
- Ensure that the USB drive is properly prepared with a bootable Windows installation. Use a reliable tool like Rufus or the Windows Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB drive.
Check Compatibility:
- Verify that the USB drive is compatible with your laptop model. Some older laptops might have limitations with newer USB drives or USB 3.0 ports. In such cases, using a USB 2.0 drive or port might help.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop model from HP's support website. Sometimes, updates can improve compatibility with USB devices.
Hardware Issues:
- If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with either the USB ports on your laptop or the USB device itself. Try using the USB device on another computer to verify if it works correctly.
Final Steps:
- After making any changes in BIOS/UEFI settings, remember to save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI setup.
- Restart your laptop and see if the USB device is now recognized as a boot option.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @mofizul21,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing difficulty in selecting the USB Flash Drive or USB Hard Disk as a boot option on your HP laptop. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check USB Drive and Port:
- Ensure that the USB flash drive or USB hard disk is properly inserted into a USB port on your laptop.
- Try using a different USB port if available, as some ports may have better compatibility or higher power output.
USB Drive Format:
- The USB drive should be formatted correctly and preferably using FAT32 file system for better compatibility with UEFI systems.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
Boot Order:
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a specific key like Esc, F2, F10, or Del during startup).
- Navigate to the Boot Options or Boot Order settings.
- Ensure that UEFI Boot Mode is enabled (if available) and prioritize the USB device in the boot order list. You might need to move the USB device to the top of the boot order list.
Secure Boot:
- Check if Secure Boot is enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Sometimes, Secure Boot can prevent unrecognized bootable devices from being used. You may need to temporarily disable Secure Boot to allow booting from the USB device.
Legacy Support:
- If your laptop supports Legacy BIOS mode or Legacy Boot mode, try switching to that mode and see if the USB device is recognized. However, UEFI mode is generally recommended for newer systems.
