HP 15-bw069na notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 15-bw069na notebook and I want to boot from a USB Flash drive. I have enabled Legacy boot and Secure boot is disabled. When I select the USB drive in the F9 menu I get a fuzzy screen with vertical coloured bars. Is this likely to be a hardware fault?

If you are trying to reinstall W10, use the cloud recovery tool to make the recovery media with.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility.

Hi Paul,

I downloaded the HP Cloud recovery tool as you advised and it solved my problem. Thanks for your help. What I cannot understand is why this pc should be different as in the past I have downloaded Windows from Microsoft on to a USB Flash drive and I was always able to boot from the drive and install windows but in the past it has always been Intel chip sets whereas this one is AMD. Can this be the reason? Anyway thanks again for your help.

You're very welcome.

It seems to only happen on the 15-bw0xx model series for some reason.

You get that crazy looking display.

I have seen several posts in the past regarding the problem on that model series, and so far, that is the only way to reinstall W10 on that PC that I know of.

I recommend that you save that recovery drive in case you need it again.
