@Huggons_1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the touchpad was working fine?
  • How did you do the BIOS update?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

While you respond to that, I checked the BIOS update and I see that it contains a security update. I would like to inform you that if there is a security update in the BIOS you will not be able to downgrade the BIOS.

As you have mentioned that the touchpad is not working, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

NOTE: Follow the steps under section troubleshooting.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!

Steps followed, unresolved.

The bios was updated with the 2018 HP recommended exe file from HP. Have also reapplied exe from within windows and also the Windows / b key method.

All was OK prior to the update.

HP need to provide a rollback method to resolve the issue they have created.

I can see no mention from HP that customers can not rollback the bios. Where is this documented?

HP support, please can you anser the questions raised? The local support team are not fit for purpose and can not answer any of the questions raised either!

The local support state that HP tells customers not to update the BIOS and if they do so they invalidate any warrantee.

Where on the website is this stated and why are the BIOS updates published for the customer to download, if this statement were true. Furthermore the release notes suggest that customer should update the BIOS.

As the HP BIOS update F.0D 2018 caused the touchpad to become inoperable, I expect HP to provide a solution to return the BIOS back to the previous version, to restore the use of the touchpad. I am confident that your second / third level support colleagues will be able to supply either a new BIOS to replace the F.0D 2018 version on the HP site, or an alternative file to restore one of the previous BIOS.

Where is it mentioned that a customer can not return to a previos BIOS version?

All I can see is that HP promote the the Windows / b key method, but omit that customers can only flash to the same level of BIOS.

All was OK prior to the update.

HP need to provide a rollback method to resolve the issue they have created.
