Hi,
Can you provide the last two missing letters of the model number 15-BW049XX (Example 15-BW049NC)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
When you say it leads to a black screen, is there anything at all on the screen?
I would try removing the drive and start the PC, does it go to a different screen? Leave the pendrive in the USB port.
When you go into boot menu at startup, is the USB pendrive listed as possible boot option?
regards,
david

It is BW049au
Theres nothing at all on the screen, the screen is turned on and is bright but its just blank. When I leave it to a normal boot, it leads to the windows crash screen with "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME". it restarts automatically and attempts to load up the automatic repair tool but that leads to the black screen as well. When the USB is inside the boot options listed are
>Os boot manager
>Internal CD/DVD ROM Drive
>USB Diskette on Key/USB Hard Disk
>USB CD/DVD ROM Drive
>! Network Adapter

I appreciate any help, this is really urgent. I really don't want to take it back to the store, if I have to do that I dont want to lose my files if there really is something wrong with the hard drive. I'm begging for anything to fix this.

OK. The notebook does not seem to see the USB drive as a bootable drive, try a different USB port. On a different PC create a new bootable USB drive wth Windows 10 on it. In the boot menu you should have the USB drive listed in the list.
The hard drive most likely has a problem and might need to be replaced. If there are important files on the drive and you do not have a backup, you should first try recover the data by removing the drive and using a USB to SATA adapter to try and recover the files.
On page 50 of service manual you can see how to remove the drive.

Won't removing the drive void my warranty?
