Hello,
Firstly I want to apologize myselft by my not so good english writing techniques. English is not my mother language. So, forgive me by my mistakes, in advance.
That said, let's go for the issue.
I have an old laptop HP Pavilion DV 6753 CL which was running Win 7. This laptop was built over 2007. So, 13 years of life.
It came from factory running Windows Vista. After bought it I did a downgrade for Windows XP Pro.
After a few years I installed Windows 7 Pro which was running OK. However, I want to install Windows 10 Home Single Language using a brand new SSD A400 240GB by Kingston but I could'nt manage it. The laptop just doesn't recognize the SSD as a bootable device.
I just tried Ubuntu Linux, but it goes the same way. The SSD isn't even shown as a bootable device in BIOS.
Note: When I tried to install Windows 10, the install programa said that the windows can't be installed in that partition because the device (SSD) doesn't offer support for being bootable. Etc, etc.
Notebook Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC
Product Number: KC424UAR#ABA
System Board ID: 30CC
BIOS version: F33
Serial Number: [edit]
Proccessor Type: Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU, T5550
Processor Speed: 1830MHz
I think I should update my BIOS in order to turn it able to "see" my SSD as a bootable device. Does that sound reasonable? If yes, how do I do it?
PS: This is a refurbished laptop.
