An intermittent line on the screen is likely the first sign of the screen having a hardware problem. The non-working keys indicate the keyboard is also having a senior moment. It is an older laptop not under warranty I presume? The screen and keyboard can be replaced if you are up to the task. Where do you live (country)?

Possibly it is the screen cable not the screen. I frankly would wait to replace it until it gets worse. It could go on with just an occasional vertical line for years. You also want to try connecting to an external monitor to rule out a video card (motherboard) issue. If the line never appears on an external monitor then the problem is the screen or the screen cable.
Even the screen cable is not an easy fix, but less expensive.
