HP Pavilion - 15-cs3071nl
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion 15 cs3071nl, with BIOS Insyde F.21, is there a way to enable Wake on LAN or to access the advanced options in the BIOS? My monitor is broken and i'm using it with external monitor, keyboard and mouse, and I would love to let the laptop hidden without the necessity to open it every time i need to work on it

@MatteoMascetti, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You're looking to enable Wake on LAN (WoL) on your HP Pavilion 15-cs3071nl with BIOS version Insyde F.21, and also wondering about accessing advanced BIOS options. Here's how you can proceed:

Enable Wake on LAN (WoL)

To enable WoL, you’ll need to configure both the BIOS and Windows settings:

Step 1: Access BIOS Settings

  1. Power off your laptop completely.
  2. Power it on and immediately start pressing the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.

Since your internal display is broken, ensure your external monitor is connected via HDMI before powering on. Most HP laptops mirror the BIOS screen to HDMI by default, but if it doesn’t show, you may need to temporarily reconnect the internal display.

Step 2: Enable WoL in BIOS

  1. Navigate to Advanced > Power Management Options.
  2. Look for and enable:
    • Wake on LAN from S4/S5
    • Deep Sleep Control → Set this to Disabled if available.
  3. Press F10 to Save and Exit.

Step 3: Configure Windows Settings

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network Adapters and right-click your Ethernet adapter.
  3. Go to Properties > Power Management tab:
    • Check Allow this device to wake the computer.
    • Check Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer.
  4. Under the Advanced tab, ensure Wake on Magic Packet is Enabled.

HP consumer laptops like the Pavilion series typically do not provide access to advanced BIOS settings beyond what's visible in the standard BIOS interface. These options are locked to prevent accidental misconfiguration.

Since your internal screen is broken and you're using an external monitor, you might consider setting your laptop to automatically power on when plugged in (if supported in BIOS under Power Options), or use Wake on LAN from another device to remotely wake it.

And we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center for broken screen, the service team will check and assist you.

I don't have any option in the BIOS for Power Management. That's why I wanted to access the advanced options, because I can't do anything with the basics options.

I can see the BIOS on the external monitor, but there's basically nothing.

I had previous another HP laptop, and with a key combination I could enter the advanced options and there was a WoL option in there, so I was asking if there is anything like that in this BIOS.

I already tried to turn on the pc with WoL editing the settings in Windows but if in the BIOS is not enabled it doesn't work
