 Hello All:

    In my w10, I make a  file abc.docx file with office 2007. Copy it to a Fresh-Drive

and then go to past this abc.docx to my old winXP (this laptop also installed Office 2007)

To my surprise, this abc.docx became abc.docx.PFILE and can not open.

Why the file is changed to have more extension .PFILE, Where did it come from?  How solve this

trouble?

                                                      -- Zhao

Hi,

Please use Microsoft forums as shown above. Other option: rename abc.docx.PFILE to abc.docx or using method which is mentioned above:

If you find a PFILE file on your computer or you receive a PFILE file as an email attachment you must install RMS to open the file. When RMS is installed you can simply double-click the file to open it. You will be prompted to confirm that you are authorized to view the file with a username and password.

NOTE: Microsoft Rights Management is also known as Azure Information Protection.

@hz363

It come from Microsoft.

            https://fileinfo.com/extension/pfile

My suggestion: delete it and copy again. You can also try

    Hello banhien:

I tried your 1st way: delete the abc.docx.PFILE in Fresh-Drive and copy-past again the

abc.docx into the Fresh-Drive from w10. Then take the Fresh-Drive, with new copied

abc.docx, to wXP.

The new abc.docx is still became abc.docx.PFILE.

     So, I failed!!

    Hi banhein:

After one day, I found the PFILE is a sticky trouble.(At least for my old machine)

I changed to use eMail-way to transfer DOCs. Perhaps, it is faster than Fresh-Drive.

Thank you for all the help you had given!                      --Zhao
