When I opened my laptop all I can see is (see picture below) "Drivers", "Devices List", "Exit". I am unable to go pass this screen. When you enter at devices list, nothing is coming up. I have tried removing all external usbs (keyboard and mouse) that are plugged but this keeps appearing. Please help.

Hi @YasirBcom

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining that—seeing only “Drivers,” “Devices List,” and “Exit” on startup is definitely confusing, especially when nothing responds. It sounds like your laptop may be stuck in a diagnostic or pre-boot environment.

Let’s try a few steps to gently nudge it back to normal. 🧩💻

🔄 Step 1: Perform a Hard Reboot

  1. Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the laptop shuts off.
  2. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button again to restart.
  3. See if it boots past the “Drivers” screen.

🧠 Step 2: Access BIOS/UEFI Settings

  1. As soon as you power on the laptop, repeatedly press the ESC key (or try F10 or DEL depending on your model).
  2. This should open the BIOS or Startup Menu.
  3. If successful, look for an option like “Exit Diagnostics” or “Load Setup Defaults”, then Save and Exit.

🧰 Step 3: Boot into Safe Mode

If BIOS access works:

  1. Restart and press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly during startup.
  2. Choose Safe Mode from the boot options.
  3. If it boots, you can troubleshoot from within Windows.

🧪 Step 4: Disconnect All Peripherals Again

You’ve already tried this, but let’s go one step further:

  • Remove any USB drives, SD cards, external monitors, or docking stations.
  • Restart and see if the screen changes.

🧼 Step 5: Reset BIOS (if accessible)

If you reach BIOS:

  1. Look for “Restore Defaults” or “Reset to Factory Settings”.
  2. Save changes and exit.

If none of these steps help and the screen persists, it may be stuck in a firmware-level diagnostic loop. Let me know your exact laptop model and I’ll guide you to the correct recovery or BIOS update page.

We’ll get this sorted together! 💪😊
