@sandhya_7, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the "Preparing Automatic Repair" loop issue on your HP laptop (Device: LAPTOP-G43K9CE1, Intel i5-1135G7, 8GB RAM):
Perform a Hard Reset
This clears temporary memory and resets hardware connections.
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove all external devices (USBs, printers, etc.).
- Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter (leave other devices disconnected).
- Power on the laptop.
Boot into Safe Mode
If the loop continues, try booting into Safe Mode:
- Power on and force shut down the laptop 3 times (hold power button until it turns off).
- On the 4th boot, Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) should appear.
- Navigate to:
- Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart
- Press F4 to boot into Safe Mode
If you can access Safe Mode, uninstall any recent updates or drivers that may have caused the issue.
Use Startup Repair
If Safe Mode doesn't work:
- In WinRE, go to:
- Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair
- Select your account and enter your password if prompted.
Windows will attempt to fix startup issues automatically.
Run System File Checker (SFC)
If Startup Repair fails:
- In Advanced options, choose Command Prompt.
- Type the following and press Enter:sfc /scannow
- Let the scan complete and follow any prompts.
Reset the PC (Last Resort)
If none of the above work:
- In WinRE, go to:
- Troubleshoot > Reset this PC
- Choose Keep my files (if you want to retain personal data) or Remove everything.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
