Hi @Wyattshumway,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for explaining what happened. It sounds like your HP laptop is stuck in a boot loop after installing the Meta Quest app — it keeps saying “Please wait”, then “Something went wrong”, and resets again.
This kind of issue can happen if:
- The Meta Quest app installation corrupted system files or drivers.
- There was a Windows update conflict.
- Or your system is failing to boot properly due to a startup error.
Let’s try to get you back in. Here are your best options:
1. Force Windows into Recovery Mode
You’ll need to interrupt the boot process 3 times:
- Turn on the laptop.
- As soon as you see the HP logo or spinning dots, hold the power button to force shutdown.
- Repeat this 3 times.
- On the 4th boot, Windows should enter Recovery Mode.
2. Use Advanced Startup Options
Once in Recovery Mode:
- Click Advanced Options
- Then choose Startup Repair
→ Let Windows try to fix itself.
If that doesn’t work:
- Go back to Advanced Options
- Choose System Restore (if you had restore points enabled)
- Or choose Uninstall Updates → Try removing the latest update
3. Boot into Safe Mode
Still in Recovery Mode:
- Go to Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Click Restart
- Press F4 or F5 to boot into Safe Mode
If Safe Mode works:
- Uninstall the Meta Quest app
- Restart normally
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
