Hi @Wyattshumway,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for explaining what happened. It sounds like your HP laptop is stuck in a boot loop after installing the Meta Quest app — it keeps saying “Please wait”, then “Something went wrong”, and resets again.

This kind of issue can happen if:

  • The Meta Quest app installation corrupted system files or drivers.
  • There was a Windows update conflict.
  • Or your system is failing to boot properly due to a startup error.

Let’s try to get you back in. Here are your best options:

1. Force Windows into Recovery Mode

You’ll need to interrupt the boot process 3 times:

  1. Turn on the laptop.
  2. As soon as you see the HP logo or spinning dots, hold the power button to force shutdown.
  3. Repeat this 3 times.
  4. On the 4th boot, Windows should enter Recovery Mode.

2. Use Advanced Startup Options

Once in Recovery Mode:

  • Click Advanced Options
  • Then choose Startup Repair
→ Let Windows try to fix itself.

If that doesn’t work:

  • Go back to Advanced Options
  • Choose System Restore (if you had restore points enabled)
  • Or choose Uninstall Updates → Try removing the latest update

 3. Boot into Safe Mode

Still in Recovery Mode:

  • Go to Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Click Restart
  • Press F4 or F5 to boot into Safe Mode

If Safe Mode works:

  • Uninstall the Meta Quest app
  • Restart normally

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
