Hp Elite book Notebook 840 g1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!
I have a 840 g1 elite book,
I want it to boot as fast as possible. in my bios there is an option called "fast boot"
It is gray and I cannot turn it on. it says that It can't work with drive lock (I tried to disable it and found out It wasn't even on)

It also said something like or enrolling bios users after "drive lock"

I couldn't enable it no matter what I did. I will be happy for help.

btw - there is also an option called fast startup? how can I enable it? can they work together?
thanks 🙂

@LazyLand

Fast Boot and FastStartup are both poorly named -- as NEITHER actually speeds up the booting process.

When the PC boots, after processing the Boot Loader files, it has to load the OS and the Startup Apps you have configured in Windows.  Since these are read from the hard disk, that all takes time.

What these do is save that stuff to local memory on the PC.  So that next time you boot, instead of reading the hard drive, it reads the memory -- and loads somewhat faster. The boot itself is no faster; what is faster is loading the stuff from memory.

If the BIOS has no fast boot option, then there is no way to enable that.

@Wawood

You don't understand, I DO have the option "fast boot" in bios. but I can't enable it because something like "drivelock" (its disabled)

and also It says something about enrolling bios users, idk..

why is it gray and why can't I enabled it??
