Hi @rj_d7,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are encountering a BitLocker recovery key prompt after updating your BIOS, it generally means that the system's security configuration changed, prompting BitLocker to require the recovery key to ensure the system hasn't been tampered with.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue:
Steps to Recover BitLocker Key
Check Your Microsoft Account:
- If you have a Microsoft account linked to your Windows 11 device, you can retrieve the BitLocker key from the account. Go to Microsoft's BitLocker Recovery Key page and log in with the Microsoft account associated with your device. Look for the recovery key corresponding to your device.
Check Other Accounts:
- If your device is part of an organization, such as a workplace or school, your IT department might have a copy of the BitLocker recovery key. Contact your IT support team for assistance.
Check Printouts and USB Drives:
- When BitLocker was set up, you might have saved the recovery key to a file, printed it out, or stored it on a USB drive. Check any printouts or USB drives you have for the recovery key.
If You Cannot Find the BitLocker Key
If you are unable to retrieve the BitLocker key, you may need to reset your device. This process will erase all data on the device, so it should be considered as a last resort.
Resetting Your Device
Create a Windows 11 Installation Media:
- On a different computer, download the Windows 11 installation media from the Microsoft website and create a bootable USB drive.
Boot from USB:
- Insert the bootable USB drive into your HP Pavilion X360 and boot from it. You may need to enter the BIOS or boot menu to change the boot order.
Reset Windows:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your device. Choose the option to keep your files or remove everything depending on your preference and situation.
Additional Steps
Since you mentioned the battery check failed, it may be wise to have the battery checked or replaced if you experience any issues related to power. Additionally, once you have access to your device again, make sure to:
- Backup your BitLocker recovery key to multiple locations.
- Update your password recovery options.
- Ensure your BIOS is up-to-date, but follow any update instructions carefully to avoid similar issues in the future.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
