Hello All,

I have recently downgraded my HP Probook 650 g1from 10 to Win7.  When I power up the latop gets to the Hp logo and does not go any further.

After downgrade I googled how to make Win7 run faster...and made basic alterations. What is causing the Hp logo to hang and not boot properly? I am pretty certain I did not alter start up items. Can I system restore to a previous point? Im stumped.

All ideas greatly welcomed.

Thanks, Jon.

@jonnya123

If by "downgrade" you mean you did an inplace rollback from Win10 to Win7 -- that won't work, as you have discovered.

There is no actual "downgrade" from Win10 to Win7; instead, you have to do a clean-install from Win7 install media.

Thanks for your reply.

I have installed from a genuine Hp sp1 disk. The laptop worked find until I started tryinfg to make it run faster.

Currently I just need to know how to recoverthe system from the machine not starting up...

If that is not possible I want to reinstall again but the option to 'boot from disk' does not show when disk is inserted.

Could you give me some input on how to get the laptop to boot from disk to do the install again.

Many thanks,

Jon.
