After the new Windows update my hard drive crashed and I have done research on ways to fix it. However, I am still having issues.  I have been told that I need to purchase a new hard drive which I find to be wrong since it wasn't until the update till it crashed. So, is there anything else I can do?

Not sure who told you to purchase a new hard drive but I assume you ran Diagnostics and got a failure code? It wouldn't be the first time I have seen an aging/ailing drive  killed by a huge Windows update.

HP Tech support told me that I had to purchase a new hard drive. I've had this laptop (HP) for little over 2 years and to be honest I am extremely upset and disappointed in the response that HP's tech support gave me. I had a dell laptop and had one or two issues in the 5 years that I had it. When I do have issues they fixed those issues. I am pretty pc savvy however I have been researching on how to fix this problem and so far it's been difficult.

I have had laptop drives last years too-have a 6 yr old HP running Windows 7. But Windows 10 seems to be rough on drives. You don't have to buy one from HP. You can buy at retail for probably much less.
