Hp 8460

Have an 8460p that was able to boot from flashdrive but couldnt enter bios setup screen (instead went to system diagnostics). Saw on another post to try holding the power button for 15 seconds and then hold the windows and b keys while turning it back on. That got the computer fans to start spinning, the caps lock button light is blinking and none of the buttons work (including the power button). Idk what its doing now, but i dont wanna mess it up worse by unplugging it. I should mention the computer hard drive wasnt being recognized by the computer and has no OS installed which is why I was booting from a flashdrive previously. Id love to at least get back to being able to use it with Windows to go or linux flashdrives like that but I have no clue how to undo whatever the windows+b+power button combo does. I assume its trying to update the bios? I dont wanna mess with that but its been running for hours now and its probably not going to happen successfully if it hasnt done that already….

edit: I see now that that key combination is meant for computers that have a hard drive with a hidden partition with a copy of the bios stored on it to recover from. I obviously dont have that since my hard drive wasnt being recognized by the computer. I unplugged everything and restarted and now get back to the system diagnostics screen and can boot from a flashdrive but im pretty sure that process messed up my bios if it wasnt already screwed up. Any suggestions on how to restore it at this point? I dont really care if its not a problem to use the computer like this, but I dont know if its a security issue to do that.
