Hi @gaurav02,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop is having trouble finding the boot device, and you’re encountering a "Boot Device Not Found" error (often shown as error code 3F0). This issue is common when there’s a problem with the SSD, boot configuration, or corrupted files. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Hardware Connections
- Power Off: Turn off your laptop and disconnect it from any power source.
- Remove and Reinsert SSD: If you’re comfortable doing so, open the laptop’s back panel, locate the SSD, and ensure it’s properly connected. Re-seat the SSD if necessary.
2. Run Diagnostics
- Built-in Diagnostics: Many laptops have built-in diagnostics that you can access during boot:
- Restart Your Laptop: As soon as you power it on, repeatedly press the diagnostic key (usually F2, F12, ESC, or F10 depending on the manufacturer).
- Run Diagnostics: Select the option to run a diagnostic test to check the health of your SSD and other hardware components.
3. Access BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Restart Your Laptop: Press the appropriate key to enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually F2, F10, ESC, or DEL).
- Check Boot Order: Ensure that your SSD is listed as the primary boot device. If it’s not listed, there may be a connection issue or the SSD may be failing.
- Save and Exit: Make any necessary changes, save, and exit BIOS/UEFI.
4. Repair Boot Files
Create a Windows Installation Media:
- Download Windows Media Creation Tool: Use another working computer to download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s website.
- Create Bootable USB: Follow the tool’s instructions to create a bootable USB drive.
Boot from Installation Media:
- Insert USB Drive: Plug the bootable USB drive into your laptop.
- Enter Boot Menu: Restart your laptop and enter the boot menu (usually F12, F10, ESC, or DEL).
- Select USB Drive: Choose the USB drive as the boot device.
- Select Language and Region: Choose your language and region settings, then click Next.
- Repair Your Computer: Click Repair your computer (not Install now).
- Troubleshoot: Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair. This tool will attempt to fix issues preventing Windows from booting.
5. Check and Rebuild Boot Configuration:
- Access Command Prompt: From the Advanced options menu, select Command Prompt.:
- Type the following commands one at a time and press Enter after each:
6. Check SSD Health
- Check SSD Health: Use SSD diagnostic tools to check for health and performance issues. Some manufacturers offer dedicated tools (like Samsung Magician for Samsung SSDs).
7. Reset or Reinstall Windows
- Access Reset Option: From the Advanced options menu, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Choose an Option: Opt for Keep my files or Remove everything based on whether you want to preserve your data.
Reinstall Windows: If resetting does not work, you may need to perform a clean installation:
- Follow Installation Prompts: Use the bootable USB drive to install Windows by following the on-screen instructions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
