My notebook is a Windows 10 and it has not been able to go to the startup screen and has been getting stuck on “Preparing Automatic Repair” screen. I’ve tried going to the advanced startup menu, but that gets stuck at “Please Wait,” and I’ve done this on standard and legacy mode. I even tried rebooting it from a recovery drive, but that ends up in a black screen. So this is what I’m wondering, is there any way to do a complete restart/while on my PC without using advanced startup or having to go to the startup screen, because I physically can’t.

Hello @GamesForSubs
Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.
The Windows file system could be corrupt or there is a hard disk error or undefined technical error. |
(1) Test your hardware Using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

Hello @GamesForSubs
This is "Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure".
DST is drive self test. This means that the seek, read and write operations can no longer be performed reliably due to technical errors.
Recommendation and solution
(1) Short roadmap - To keep all your data please disconnect and remove your hard drive. - Install new SSD hard drive, i.e. <SAMSUNG 870 EVO SATA SSD 500GB 2.5” Internal Solid State Hard Drive>. - Install Windows operating system using HP Cloud Recovery or Microsoft Official Setup. - Access your data with SATA-to-USB adapter.
Ask a friend/neighbor/acquaintance who is good in computers to help you. |
The HP Notebook - 15-f272wm Product Specifications says:
Hard Drive | 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA |
( mechanical drive )
The hard disk urgently needs to be replaced ! A later access to the hard disk via a SATA-to-USB adapter is still possible. However, it cannot be guaranteed that you can access all data.
Windows operating system must be installed on new hard drive using HP Cloud Recovery or Official Setup from Microsoft |
HP warranty valid -> Contact HP Support for service repair
