Hey friends. Fan was going crazy so I powered down. Now I am unable to power back on. Power LED shows white for a few seconds but no restart or fan movement or any indication of turning on. Charger LED was orange (charging) and is now white (fully charged), so not a power issue.

Hi @MCS15
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 is experiencing a hardware issue that prevents it from powering on.
Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the charger and remove any connected peripherals (e.g., USB devices).
- If the battery is removable, take it out. If not, skip this step.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the charger (without the battery, if removable) and try powering it on.
2. Check for Overheating
- If the laptop overheated, it might have triggered a thermal shutdown. Let the laptop cool down for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power it on again.
3. Inspect the Power Button
- Ensure the power button is not stuck or damaged. Press it firmly but gently to see if it responds.
4. Run HP Diagnostics
- If the laptop powers on but doesn't boot, press the F2 key repeatedly during startup to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu. Run a system test to check for hardware issues.
5. Reset the BIOS
- If the laptop shows signs of life (e.g., LED lights), try resetting the BIOS:
- Turn off the laptop and unplug it.
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding the Windows + B keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
6. Inspect the Charger and Power Port
- Even though the charger LED indicates it's working, ensure the charger and power port are not damaged. Test with a different compatible charger if possible.

@Hawks_Eye, thank you for the thorough response.
Unfortunately, I did everything in step 1, to include removing the battery, and there is no difference. The charging LED still shows charging/charged when plugged in. The power LED still comes on for about two seconds when I press and/or hold it, with no system response (no sounds or indications of the laptop booting up). No overheating noted (step 2). Nothing about the power button makes me think it is degraded (step 3). Unable to perform steps 4 and 5 due to laptop not powering on. Regarding step 6, the laptop was successfully charging the same day my laptop issues started.
After reconnecting the battery, no change was noticed. Same status of LEDs and no powering on of the laptop.
