Hi @JW194 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP 14-inch Laptop PC 14-d3000 (2L0Z3AV) might be experiencing a hardware or power-related issue.
Here are some possible causes and troubleshooting steps to try:
Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.
1. Turn off the Unit.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
3. Remove any discs from the disc drive.
4. Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
5. Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
6. Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
7. Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.
Step 2
Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit
Step3
The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit
Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.
Possible Causes:
- Battery or Power Supply Issue: If the battery is faulty or the charger isn't providing power, the laptop may not turn on. A damaged charger or battery could lead to a sudden shutdown.
- Overheating: Laptops automatically shut down if they overheat to protect internal components. If the laptop was running hot before it turned off, this could be the reason.
- Internal Hardware Issue: A failure in internal components like the motherboard, RAM, or hard drive could cause the laptop to not power on.
- Static Charge Build-Up: Sometimes, residual static electricity can prevent a laptop from turning on.
Steps to Troubleshoot:
Perform a Hard Reset (Power Reset):
- Unplug the charger from the laptop.
- Remove the battery (if it's removable).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to drain any residual charge.
- Reconnect the charger (without the battery, if removable), and try powering on the laptop.
Check the Charger and Power Source:
- Make sure the charger is plugged into a working outlet.
- Check if the charging cable is intact or try using another compatible charger if available.
Inspect for Overheating:
- If the laptop was running hot before it turned off, let it cool down for 30 minutes and try turning it on again.
- Ensure that the vents are not blocked, and clean any dust buildup that might obstruct airflow.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Ensure there's no visible damage to the power jack or other components.
- If the laptop experienced any recent physical impact, this could have caused internal damage.
Remove External Devices:
- Unplug any external devices such as USB drives, external keyboards, or mice, and then try turning on the laptop.
Try a Different Charger (if possible):
- If the battery or charger is faulty, using a different, known-working charger can help determine if it's a power supply issue.
