Hi @Jessica0418,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that your computer is having trouble booting up due to hard drive issues. There could be several reasons for this problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

Check connections: Ensure that all cables connecting the hard drive to the motherboard and power supply are securely plugged in. Sometimes loose connections can cause issues.

BIOS settings: Access the BIOS (usually by pressing a key like Del, F2, or F10 during startup) and verify that the hard drive is detected. If it's not, there might be a hardware problem with the drive or its connection.

Boot order: Make sure that the hard drive is set as the first boot device in the BIOS settings. If it's not, the computer may be trying to boot from another device.

Try a different SATA port: If you have multiple SATA ports on your motherboard, try connecting the hard drive to a different port to see if that resolves the issue.

Test the hard drive: If possible, connect the hard drive to another computer and see if it's recognized. This can help determine if the problem lies with the hard drive itself.

Check for errors: Use diagnostic tools like CHKDSK (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to scan the hard drive for errors and attempt repairs.

Backup data: If you can access the hard drive from another computer, make sure to back up any important data before attempting any repairs or modifications.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
