Hi,

Normally.. The error message " Your PC did not start correctly " means the OS crashed. Either youve accidentally shut your computer down while downloading an important update from Windows Update.

If your computer is within warranty please call 1800-474-6836. I would highly suggest you to call us 9:00AM-12:00PM so you could get a support right away. Beyond 12pm you gonna end up waiting on the line.

It would be nice to say what the help was and if it fixed your problem, for people that may be searching for the same problem.

There is nothing worse than finding a post related to your problem only to see a message saying "I fixed it, thanks" with no explanation of how it was fixed.

Hi,

For crashed OS there are different methods to try. but it depends on what triggered the crash.

It could be a windows update, could be a virus, could be an antivirus, could be an app not compatible with the current OS or it could be human error.

Methods to try:

Method 1: System Restore

-Turn off device not sleep mode

-Press and hold down F11 then turn the device on

-Select Troubleshoot > Advanced or Advanced options > command prompt

-Sign in to your account if asked

-Type  the following:

 cd then press enter

 cd restore then press enter

 rstrui.exe then press enter

You will be given an option to restore back to an earlier date when the computer is working fine

I you dont see a date click see more dates or restore dates

Note: DONT RUN A SYSTEM RESTORE WITH CRITICAL UPDATES ON IT

Method 2: Checkdisk via command prompt

-Turn off device not sleep mode

-Press and hold down F11 then turn the device on

-Select Troubleshoot > Advanced or Advanced options > command prompt

-Sign in to your account if asked

-Type  chkdsk c: /f /r /x then press Enter

Note: Check disk will take sometime to scan

Method 3: SFC Scan

-Turn off device not sleep mode

-Press and hold down F11 then turn the device on

-Select Troubleshoot > Advanced or Advanced options > command prompt

-Sign in to your account if asked

-Type  sfc /scannow then press Enter

Method 4: RESET via HP Manager

-Turn off device not sleep mode

-Press and hold down F11 then turn the device on

-Select Troubleshoot > Recovery > Help and Maintenance > RESET

Note: Reset will take time. Normally 3-4 hours or more

Method 5: Reset via Windows

-Turn off device not sleep mode

-Press and hold down F11 then turn the device on

-Select Troubleshoot > RESET

Note: Reset will take time. Normally 3-4 hours or more

Method 6: Reset via Recovery Media

Order Recovery media online: https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c02682650

Order Recovery media through HP: Call 1800-474-6836

Good luck!

Hi I am trying method 1..doing a system restore..how long does that usually take? And will that delete files on my drive?
HP Recommended

The restore doesn't take that long, less than an hour .  However, yes all your files, installed programs, etc. will be gone because it will be back to the just purchased stage.

HP Recommended

Hi,

System Restore wont delete your files in the process. The only cons on performing system restore is you will loose the apps the youve installed recently within the system restore date.

Reset however is a different thing. It will wipe your data out including the apps youve personally installed and it will only retain the bundled apps when you purchased the computer.

Please be guided

Thanks,

ichi
