Former Mac-IT admin here so HP’s not my first live but it’s my wife’s machine so needs fixed.

Swollen battery…replaced it with a certified replacement. Got the battery in, all screws back in and no dice.

The keyboard flickers on occasion no boot.

Tried all kinds of reset combinations I found on the forum…nada.

Reached out to our PC-IT guys and tried their suggestions…bupkis.

So back to the forums and some guy mentions that there seems to be an issue with some of the screws in the base causing a short in the motherboard…seems hinky…

However tried it and it works. You undo a small panel that's separate from the larger panel (it just covers the fans)…take that off then there's 3 T8 screws in that inside area, unscrew those and walla…it works. Put the screen back on and screw it in, all good.

So apparently HPs only work with a few “screws loose” 😉
