  • 15 month old laptop will not work on battery.
  • Soon as you unplug the AC adapter the laptop either dies and switches off or locks up and screen freezes
  • Have installed fresh copy of Windows 11 and have performed battery calibration 
  • Hp diag software shows no hardware error but quite obviously the laptop is faulty.

Let me check your basic system configuration before we check the <battery> ...

 

(1) Run    msinfo32

- Select <System Summary>:

--->>> Copy/screenshot/paste following key/value pairs:

 

OS Name

Version

System Model

System SKU

( equals HP product number (p/n) )

Processor

BIOS Version/Date

 

(2Please report your results

HP Diag will not report any fault doing a battery test and have also spent a whole day calibrating the battery, it is a hardware fault even though HP Diags reports no fault.Screenshot 2022-11-07 214509.png

Please < calibrate > your battery ...

 

(1) Open windows <device manager> and uninstall "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

- Right click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery"

- Click "Uninstall device"

- Confirm your choice if you see a popup notification

(2Shutdown notebook

(3) Disconnect charger

(4) Press and hold <power> button for 30 seconds

(5) Connect charger and wait until battery is fully charged ( check LED indicator )

(6) Start notebook and log in to windows and wait a few minutes

(7) Reboot notebook

(8) Follow next post

or

HP Support Assistant 9.19.52.0

 

(2) Start <HP Support Assistant>

- Run <Battery Check>

- Click on <Show advanced information>

As I said in my original post, Laptop will not work on battery and still will not work on battery.

Power on the laptop on AC, boot into windows, everything works fine. Disconnect AC to switch to battery and laptop instantly dies and switches off.

Power on laptop on battery only, boots to windows desktop then dies and switches off.

The motherboard is defective because it does not recognize the battery voltage.

 

HP warranty expired:

You should have it serviced by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.

 

Alternative:

If it can't be repaired or replacing the motherboard is too expensive, you should buy another notebook.
