Hi @definitelynothe,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
It sounds like the BIOS update may have changed some settings that affect the detection of your NVMe SSD. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by tapping on F10 during startup).
- Look for options related to storage configuration. Ensure that the NVMe configuration is enabled.
- Check if there is a setting for boot mode (UEFI/Legacy) and make sure it’s set to UEFI, as Windows 10 on NVMe usually requires UEFI mode.
Secure Boot:
- In the BIOS, check if Secure Boot is enabled. Sometimes, disabling Secure Boot can help in recognizing the SSD.
Load Defaults:
- Click on the below link to load setup defaults for consumer notebooks.
Check Physical Connections:
- If you're comfortable, power down the laptop and reseat the NVMe SSD to ensure it's properly connected.
Use Disk Management:
- Boot into Windows from your HDD.
- Open Disk Management (right-click on Start and select Disk Management) to see if the SSD appears there. If it shows up as unallocated, you may need to initialize and format it.
Update Drivers:
- Please install all the pending updates for the Windows operating system by following the below steps.
go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.
Reinstall Windows:
- Please click on this link to perform a recovery on your Laptop. (Take a backup of the data before performing a recovery)
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
