I am having the same problem, HP Spectre, 2017, but when I try to run the hard disk test, it does not rum, and says "No hard drive installed. Please check that the power and data cables are connected properly."
The machine boots up fine sometimes, but other times, it is the 3FO error, which leads to this failed check.
Any thoughts?
Thanks-
Norm

Sorry; I apparently posted the above in the wrong area, so its out of context. I have an HP Spectre x360, running Windows 10. On most startups, it has the Boot Device not Found 3F0 error. When I follow the instructions at https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01442956 , when I get to the Hard Disk test, it does not run the test and shows the error in my above post. The instruction document does not say what to do in that case.
Any thoughts are appreciated-
Norm

It looks like what you were trying to do is hijack someone else's thread -- which is rude.
If the diagnostic test will not run, that indicates a more serious hardware fault with the laptop -- and you will have to take it into a local laptop repair facility to have it serviced. It could be a loose cable, but it could also be a system board issue.
