Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've read you can select the boot cd in de 'esc' boot menu when you start for example the installation of windows 10 from cd in external usb cdrom drive but will the system know automatically to restart/reboot during the installation from the external cdrom?

I speak in case there is no internal cdrom drive

Hi:

I don't quite understand your question.

After you boot from the external device to install Windows and Windows restarts, it will boot from the hard drive you installed Windows on.

Windows does not need any further info from the DVD drive or USB flash drive once it has done the first restart, so you don't want Windows to automatically boot from any external device afterwards.

If you have a disk in the DVD drive when Windows restarts, it will ask you to press any key to boot from the DVD.

After a momentary pause if you did not press any key, Windows will continue to boot from the hard drive.

Hi Paul,

I have already done a windows installation on vmware and I thought during the installation the system restarts but I was not sure it restarts (to complete installation) from the cdrom or from the already installed part of windows on the harddrive.

Probably as you explain it restarts from the already installed windows installation.

Thanks
