My Envy laptop is in a boot loop after I attempted a reset of the OS. I've downloaded installation media to a thumbdrive but can't get the laptop to boot from it. Any help? And if I can get it to boot from the thumbdrive, won't I need the Win10 license or product key to reinstall the OS? Thanks for any help out there.

In order to boot from a USB flash drive, plug it into your PC's USB port.
Turn on or restart the PC.
Immediately tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.
Select the F9 boot options menu and from that, select the USB flash drive, and press the Enter key.
The PC should boot from the flash drive.
I assume you used the Microsoft media creation tool to automatically create a bootable USB installation flash drive?
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
Some folks mistakenly believe they can just download the ISO file and copy it to a USB flash drive, but that doesn't work.
You have to make the ISO file bootable with a program such as Rufus.
The W10 product key is encrypted in your notebook's BIOS.
You won't need the product key to reinstall W10.
