Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

my name is russell R and i have a hp notebook but i dont know the serial number but the actual problem is that when i turn it on it takes me to a black screen with some thing that says 3f0 error and it also says boot device not found  then it tells me to press f2 but when i click it doesnt show the option of hardware test . ive searched youtube vids but they dont help . please help with mi pro

Hi,

You can find the model or product number of the machine. This is how

model number

 

What OS do you have installed, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.

Most likely it is a problem with the hard drive.

Try turning off the PC by holding the power button until complete shutdown. Press the power button and repeatedly keep hitting ESC until the startup menu appears.

Next press F2 to enter diagnostics. Try performing the short system test. See if it perfirms the hard drive test too.
