boot password and fingerprint failure

zbook 14ug6 i5-8265u
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I  added extra security on my laptop by having a boot password and fingerprint

It was all working fine till few days back as I almost always logged in with my fingerprint scan

Now both the password and finger scan are not working.

I may have forgotten the password but finger scan must work. The fingerscan sometimes (may be after a 100 attempts or more) works but I am worried. I have updated all bios and drivers and software. some are pending for restart. I am logged into windows right now but what if i am unable to log in again. what can I do.
